by Angela Marie
This painting is inspired by the desert rose plant and its resilience to the most arid environments. The desert rose is scientifically known as Adenium obesum that originally grows in dry climates in sub-Saharan Africa to the Arabian Peninsula. They are able to store water within their roots for long periods of droughts in order to survive. In this piece I wanted to express the resilience of the desert rose in an arid Arabian desert.
