This painting was inspired by the traditional fashions of the European Romani people. Because Romani people are also known as “travelers”, the ornate jewelry and dance clothing are influenced by multiple cultures in the region. The colorful and ornate costumes are a reflection of the complex nature of both their history and lifestyle.

Culture & Fashion

This collection is about the sensuality and beauty of the female form with influences of fashion and the traditional aspects of different cultures from around the world.  With my own unique approach to all the elements that inspire me, this collection is my creative interpretation of the cultural influences of fashion and feminine strength and sensuality.

Coy Geisha

This painting was inspired by Japanese style fashion.  Geisha women are performing arts entertainers, dancers and singers who wear ornate and colorful costumes.  The Japanese word "Geisha" most closely translates to "artist" in English.

African Beauty

This painting was inspired by the traditional tribal fashions of the
Surma and Mursi tribes in Africa.  These tribes of Ethiopia are most known for their unique and artistic headresses, still worn today.  Sadly these cultural traditions are slowly at risk of disappearing due to violence in their region over the last few decades.

Cuban Spice

This painting was inspired by the colorful fabrics of the Cuban traditional fashion also known as Guayabera dresses.  The vibrant-colored and ruffled dresses are traditionally worn for dances and parades.

Thai Flower

This painting was inspired by the traditional Thai dance costumes.  The Thai traditional performing arts is a vibrant and dramatic stage play using expressive dance choreography, beautiful music and an artistic display of costumes to tell a story.

Sensual Senorita

This painting was inspired by traditional Spanish dance fashion.  Traditional dresses of Spain are colorful and have ruffled skirts that add drama and flare to Flamenco dancing.  The hair is usually up in a bun and adorned with beautiful flowers.

Polynesian Flower

This painting was inspired by the traditional dance fashions of Hawaiian natives.  Wearing local plumeria flowers, beads and colorful fabrics, traditional dancers put on dramatic and artistic performances to tell stories of their culture and history.

Nature's Curves

This painting was inspired by a variety of Native American tribal jewelry and pottery designs.  Native American pottery, not only was used for functional purposes, but was also a form of artistic expression and story telling.  The aesthetically pleasing curves of both the pottery and the female form is symbolic of nature.

Peace & Tranquility

This painting was inspired by the classic Renaissance period paintings of women in the nude.  The art depicts two seductive women happily enjoying olives among the olive trees, symbolizing love, peace and tranquility.

This painting was inspired by the traditional and elaborate Hindu wedding dresses and jewelry.  The colors of red and other deviations of red is traditional of Hindu weddings, which symbolizes prosperity and happiness and is considered auspicious and pure.

Royal Temptress

This painting was inspired by the traditional fashions of European royalty.  The regal and opulent details of women's attire was symbolic of wealth and royalty.
